USA: Drama Therapy As Performance series from February 4-9

February 1, 2020

The Theatre & Health Lab in the NYU Program in Drama Therapy focuses on advancing our understanding how theatre can change lives for the better. In celebration of our 35th year, we have launched Drama Therapy as Performance. Our goal is to create an accessible archive of current approaches and emerging innovations in drama therapy.

This year, they will reflect on the evolution of two major approaches in the field: Role Theory and Method, first articulated by the founder of the NYU Program in Drama Therapy and Professor Emeritus, Dr. Robert Landy, and Developmental Transformations (DvT), an improvisational approach developed by Dr. David Read Johnson, co-director of the Post Traumatic Stress Center and Associate Clinical Professor, Yale University Department of Psychiatry.

The integration of imagination and action in psychotherapy has a long history. Our hope is that, by reflecting on current practices, we will continue to push the boundaries of this field.
